Details

Details answers what the current risk is, which CDM produced it, how that CDM's geometry looks, and how the numbers have moved since the conjunction event opened.

Event Summary

A structured overview of the conjunction event, including RSO identifiers, risk level, and current status: active, mitigated, or archived.

Key metrics shown:

  • Pc and the calculation method used
  • Miss Distance, Total RSS and range
  • Mahalanobis Distance
  • TCA countdown and exact timestamp
  • Time since event data was Last updated
  • Satcat recommendation for the selected CDM

CDM Timeline

The CDM timeline shows every CDM received and generated for the conjunction event, grouped by originator and identifying the primary<>secondary data sources. Ex: KAYHAN: O/O<>HAC

Satcat classifies CDMs by operational status, which distinguishes operator-validated data from testing and planning data:

  • Operational - based on uploaded OPERATIONAL ephemeris
  • Theoretical - based on ephemeris without an OPERATIONAL designation

PREDICTIVE ephemeris from a third-party tracker can also trigger new conjunction assessment results.

One CDM in the event is marked Best CDM. How Satcat selects it is covered in Best CDM.

A recommended action is shown for each CDM where recommendation data is available. See Recommendations.

Alert Banner

An alert is shown when:

  • The selected CDM contains data sources not supplied by the operator
  • The selected CDM is classified as Theoretical
  • The conjunction event's TCA has passed

Close Approach Geometry

CDM Information covers:

  • 3D visualization with close approach playback and object covariance
  • Pc values with computation methods and originators
  • Hard Body Radius (HBR) values for each object
  • RSS Uncertainty components, radial, in-track, and cross-track
  • Relative speed, approach angle, and altitude at TCA
  • CDM metadata, with downloads in KVN or JSON

The orbit determination behind each state estimate is rated alongside these values. See OD Quality Ratings.

Analysis Plots

Five groups of plots cover the conjunction event:

  • Risk trend - Pc, Pc method comparison, Mahalanobis distance, and Delta TCA across the CDM history
  • Miss distance trend - RIC components and their change between CDMs
  • Encounter geometry - B-plane and encounter plane at TCA
  • Data sensitivity - Pc response to covariance, HBR, space weather, and collision consequence
  • Primary vs Secondary Range - relative separation over time and its projections

See Analytics Products for every plot in each group.
