Satcat Operations

Satcat Operations enables satellite operators to perform conjunction assessment, execute collision avoidance maneuvers, and coordinate across the orbital environment. It supports risk monitoring, object screening, maneuver intent signaling, and scalable operations management.

This section documents how operators use the platform to support both routine operations and time-critical mitigation scenarios.

Conjunction Assessment and Mitigation

  • Conjunction Events: every CDM issued for a predicted close approach, the ephemeris behind each message, and the risk metrics derived from it.
  • On-Orbit Screening: screening an organization's latest ephemerides against Satcat's catalogs of tracked objects.
  • Maneuver Designer: constructing, simulating, and analyzing collision avoidance, impulsive, multi-burn, and differential drag maneuvers.

Orbit Data and Custody

  • Asset Management: an organization's RSOs and the data that keeps their orbits accurate, including parameters, orbit determination solutions, ephemeris upload, and watchlists.
  • Orbit Determination: OD services for spacecraft with GNSS telemetry, producing predictive and post-fit OEMs with propagated covariance.
  • Sensor Tasking: targeted observations from commercial sensor networks for RSOs where catalog accuracy or GNSS telemetry is insufficient.
  • Catalog Data: the shared ephemeris available across Satcat Operations for screening and coordination, published as three catalogs.
  • Ground Visibility: predicted pass schedules over selected ground locations, for planning ground station contacts and ground-based sensor passes.

Organization

  • Service Tiers: feature availability across the Essentials, Pro, and Enterprise plans.
  • Organization Settings: organization details and coordination behavior, members and their access, business entities, external integrations, and operational statistics.
    • Space-Track Access: automated catalog sync and CDM ingestion from a linked Space-Track account.
    • Starlink STC Access: coordination signaling and responses through the Starlink STC API.
  • Data Standards: the operator data, risk metrics, reference frames, and file formats Satcat services are built on.

SDK and Automation

Satcat exposes all major functions via API and SDK for use in mission operations systems: uploading and managing ephemeris with API keys, automating screening and CDM polling, and retrieving maneuver, geometry, and risk outputs. Access depends on an organization's Operations service tier.

  • API Reference: authenticated and public API endpoints.
  • Satcat SDK: the Python SDK for integrating Satcat services into operator systems.
