RSO Parameters

Every RSO carries a set of parameters. These values are used in orbit determination, ephemeris propagation, collision screening, and maneuver generation.


Identity

  • NORAD ID: official catalog identifier
  • Common name: sourced from Space-Track

These fields are synchronized from external catalog data. Contact support@kayhan.space to report discrepancies.


Maneuverability

Whether the RSO is capable of changing its own orbit. Three options are available: synchronize the value from Space-Track, or set it explicitly to Maneuverable or Non-maneuverable.

Space-Track records maneuverability as a single yes or no. Satcat combines the setting with propulsion type and onboard autonomy to place the RSO in a finer classification, and derives an SSC maneuverability category from it.

Maneuverability is used in conjunction screening, template selection, and operator coordination, and it determines which RSOs are eligible for automatic COLA generation.


Propulsion Type

Used to infer SSC category and define maneuver behavior. Supported types:

  • Differential drag or solar sail
  • Low-thrust, low-duty cycle propulsion
  • Conventional propulsion

Operators may also indicate whether the RSO performs autonomous onboard avoidance.


Physical Parameters

Each RSO's spacecraft parameters are used during ephemeris propagation, collision risk estimation, and maneuver tradespace analysis. These values can be automatically updated from the Satcat Orbit Determination service.

HBR is used in every collision probability calculation and always carries a value: where the operator has not set one, Satcat sources it automatically. An operator-supplied value is preferred, set either here or on Space-Track. To learn more about how Satcat sources it, see Hard body radius.
