Impulsive

The Impulsive maneuver type varies the ignition time and delta-V magnitude of a single, instantaneous burn with a fixed delta-V direction. Impulsive maneuvers are commonly used to model short burns, and are most commonly used with chemical propulsion systems with significant delta-V capabilities. Because the modeling of the maneuver is simplified, Impulsive tradespaces can typically be generated significantly faster than other maneuver types.

Impulsive is the maneuver type a new project starts on, and ignition time is measured relative to TCA.

Impulsive is the only type Satcat generates suggested maneuvers for.

A Multi-burn tradespace can also model impulsive burns, using a short per-burn duration.

Settings

Impulsive uses only the shared tradespace settings. Isp does not apply, because delta-V is specified directly rather than derived from a propellant model.
