Asset Management
Asset Management defines configuration data for Resident Space Objects (RSOs), including physical parameters, maneuverability classification, and propulsion system. These attributes are used for orbit propagation, maneuver planning, and operator-to-operator space traffic coordination.
Constellations
Assets may be organized into Constellations for ease of navigation within the Asset Management and Conjunction Event interfaces. Constellations do not influence tasking, screening, or alert behavior.
- Constellations are organizational groupings only.
- Deleting a constellation does not affect associated asset records.
Constellations are managed via Control Center > Group Settings > Constellations. Assets may be assigned to multiple constellations.
Assets
Each asset record represents a single RSO associated with a NORAD ID or Temporary ID. Configuration values defined here are used in orbit determination, ephemeris propagation, collision screening, and maneuver generation.
Identity and Status

These fields are synchronized from external catalog data. Contact support@kayhan.space to report discrepancies.
Maneuverability
The maneuverability setting governs whether the asset is considered capable of effecting changes to its orbit.
- Auto-synchronized from Space-Track (default)
- Manual override: Maneuverable or Non-maneuverable
This setting is used in conjunction screening, template selection, and coordination workflows.
Satcat derives an SSC maneuverability category from the asset's maneuverability and propulsion type.
Propulsion Type
Used to infer SSC category and define maneuver behavior. Supported types:
- Differential drag or solar sail
- Low-thrust, low-duty cycle propulsion
- Conventional propulsion
Operators may also indicate whether the asset performs autonomous onboard avoidance.
Physical Parameters
Each asset's spacecraft parameters are used during ephemeris propagation, collision risk estimation, and maneuver tradespace analysis. These values can be automatically updated from the Satcat Orbit Determination service.
Field | Units | Required |
---|---|---|
Hard body radius (HBR) | m | Yes |
Mass | kg | Optional |
Drag area | m² | Optional |
Drag coefficient | — | Optional |
SRP area | m² | Optional |
SRP coefficient | — | Optional |
HBR values are used in all collision probability calculations and sourced from operator input, authoritative third-party datasets (e.g., NASA CARA), and CDMs. Learn more about Satcat HBR databases.
Uncorrelated Objects
During launch and early orbit phase (LEOP), assets that have not yet been formally cataloged may be tracked under temporary identifiers in the 799xxxxxx
(9-digit) range. These identifiers are used with sensor-acquired or operator-supplied state data that has not been correlated to a cataloged object.
- Temporary IDs must follow the
799
prefix convention. - These objects are included in OD and conjunction workflows.
- Once a NORAD ID is assigned, the temporary record is unlinked.
Uncorrelated objects appear in Asset Management and support the same configuration parameters.
Sensor-Tasked Objects
Non-organization RSOs tracked via Sensor Tasking are automatically added to an organization's Asset Management page. Their parameters are read-only and cannot be modified by operators.
